The Population of the District is 79,201 (2000 Population and Housing Census) comprising of 38,696 males and 40,505 females. With a growth rate of 2.9%, the District’s population is projected to be 94,018 in 2006. The population density is 40 persons per square kilometer.

Mr Issifu Alidu Laa-Bandou, the 38-year-old Zabzugu District Chief Executive (DCE), has announced plans to organise stakeholders meeting to roll out a development blue print for the area noted for poverty amidst abundant resources.
ZABZUGU: assembly donate working tools to youths The Zabzugu District Assembly in conjunction with the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training ( COTVET), has handed over the training tools and working equipment’s for the youths in the district through its National Apprenticeship Program.
